Riding Procedures
The standard formation is staggered. The leader rides in the left third of the lane, the next rider stays at least one second behind in the right third, and the group follows the same pattern.
You should know these basic hand signals:
- Left turn: Extend your left arm straight out.
- Right turn: Bend your left arm at a 90-degree angle with your hand pointing up.
- Stop: Bend your left arm at a 90-degree angle with your hand pointing down.
- Hazard: Point to the hazard with your hand or foot.
- Single file riding: Raise your left arm with one finger pointing up.
- Staggered riding: Raise your left arm with two fingers pointing up.
Rides usually maintain the speed limit plus 5 to 10 km/h, depending on the group’s experience and route. The ride leader ensures the pace is safe and comfortable.
If you need to stop, signal the sweep rider and pull over safely. They will assist you, and the group will be informed.
You can ask the ride leader, the safety officer, or the sweep rider for any questions about the ride or safety.
Roles within the Group
The ride leader is an experienced rider responsible for setting the pace, knowing the route, and ensuring safety and enjoyment.
The sweep rider stays at the back to keep the group together and assist with any issues during the ride.
Middle riders help relay signals from the leader to the rest of the group and maintain communication.
Other Important Points
Riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs is not allowed to ensure everyone’s safety.
Please be punctual, follow the ride leader’s instructions, maintain a safe distance, and show respect to fellow riders.
You can provide feedback by speaking with the ride leader, executive members or by emailing us at imrg1908info@gmail.com.
